Every 5"/38 projectile left the ammunition depot with its nose fuze under a protective fuze cover — brass in WWII, zinc-plated steel by Vietnam. The cover shielded the mechanical time fuze during shipping and handling and was spun off before the round went to the gun. Original brass covers are collector items in their own right; this is the 3D-printed tribute.
